What is BSSL?

In existence for over 25 years, the Bruce Samlan Soccer League is the premier recreational & developmental soccer league in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.

BSSL provides an introduction of soccer for beginning players and offers continuing development of soccer techniques for experienced players.  BSSL has many divisions accommodating male and female players from ages 4 to 17.   

BSSL stresses sportsmanship and enjoyment of soccer along with a focus on recreational and developmental learning.  BSSL provides the environment where young soccer players have fun while learning the sport. For these young players, our primary goal is to introduce soccer as a great way to have fun. We're trying to create life-long soccer players and fans. We do this by using a Small-Sided format in our U10 and below divisions.  BSSL teams are separated into boys and girls teams except in the two youngest divisions, Shooting Stars & Fast Feet, which are coed for 4-5 year olds and 6 year olds respectfully.

We have 2 seasons of play, Fall and Spring.  Each season consists of 8 games.  All games are played on Saturday mornings at the Pacific Bearing Soccer Complex located at 6402 E. Rockton Road, Roscoe, Illinois 61073.

BSSL is an entity of the Hononegah Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) which also encompasses BSSL's sister organization, Hononegah Lions Soccer Club .  Together volunteers for HYSA work to maintain soccer programs that enable players to participate at any level they wish.  The Hononegah Lions Soccer Club offers teams that serve as progressions from BSSL.

The Bruce Samlan Soccer League (BSSL) is the premier recreational and developmental soccer league in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.  The Hononegah Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) is our parent 501(3)c organization.  BSSL is      B   an ALL-VOLUNTEER run, not-for-profit organization.  Our many thanks to the coaches, assistant coaches, parents, and others who volunteer and help BSSL teach soccer, keep kids safe and allow players to have fun while participating!
